The regular TV season is over now. I’m so bummed out. There’s nothing but repeats on for the rest of summer. The new shows won’t come back until the end of September. Arrrgh. It’s going to be so BORING!

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend is the start of summer for anyone who can get to a beach. Whole cities empty out, beach bound for this big weekend. Grills are fired up, sunscreen is slathered and coolers are loaded with ice from the convenience store ice machines. This is the beginning of our summer – let’s have fun!

As a kid I loved the Road Runner cartoons and the Speedy Gonzales cartoons. They were on Channel 5 every Saturday morning, as part of the Captain Tug show. If my parents had been out late the night before, then us kids got to watch cartoons all morning and feast on cold cereal that we poured into bowls and spooned into our mouths while laughing at Wiley E Coyote or sometimes Tom and Jerry. I miss those Saturday morning cartoons.

Almost everyone here knows a few people and families from Mexico. Cinco de Mayo is becoming a big celebration around here as more and more Mexican families move here. There are lots of special parties and food menus tonight at the Mexican restaurants, and lots of cold cervezas, too.
