We bought a big fat watermelon and got it ice cold. Tonight we’ll cut it up and feast on our first watermelon of the summer. I can’t wait!
Did you know that some people sprinkle salt on their watermelon? I can’t imagine that, but it’s true!

It’s such nice weather and my kitchen gets so hot, I think I’ll start grilling dinners. I have a nice gas grill and it’s easy to use. The hard part is remembering to marinate the meats for 30 minutes before putting them on the grill. By the time I remember to put the meat in a marinade, we are hungry and don’t want to wait the hour it will take to marinate and then cook the meats on the grill.
Almost everyone here knows a few people and families from Mexico. Cinco de Mayo is becoming a big celebration around here as more and more Mexican families move here. There are lots of special parties and food menus tonight at the Mexican restaurants, and lots of cold cervezas, too.
Happy Cinco de Mayo, ya’ll!
The Easter Bunny has always been my hero. He comes at night and leaves lots of goodies for you. Sometimes he is a little mischievous and hides things, likes all those Easter eggs that you dyed and painted!

The Easter Bunny makes Easter fun for the kids and you don’t even have to be on the good boys and good girls list to get the goodies!
Hope you have a nice Easter tomorrow and get lots of goodies to share with your family and friends!
I went to the grocery store today and made the big mistake of going on a Wednesday. In my local stores, Wednesday is “Senior Discount Day” and everybody over 60 years old is clogging the aisles to buy their groceries. The place is mobbed with gray haired old women and bald men with beer guts and dentures.
I don’t have anything against old people. I hope to be an old person one day, too. But there should be a limit as to how many old people can be in the store at one time – if there was a fire no one would be able to get out to safety.
OK – you know I’m just kidding here, don’t you? I’m glad the stores are giving the oldsters a discount on food – that means a lot to people tyring to get by on a fixed income.
