Commercial Disclaimers

Has anyone else noticed all the disclaimers on the commercials these days? There are lots of pharmaceutical commercials saying that the doctor was paid for appearing or that the people giving testimonials are not actors. I remember during a recent election the actors in the campaign commercials were so believable that some people voted for or against the candidates for believing the crap the actors were paid to say. My God, we are so gullible.

The stores are full of Easter candy, even though Easter is 2 weeks away. My favorite Easter candy has always been the jelly beans. You might be able to buy jelly beans throughout the year, but it never seems appropriate to buy them except at Easter. Weird, I know.

Bananas

For months I won’t even look at bananas in the grocery store. I just don’t have a habit of eating bananas. But every once in while I get a craving for them. I don’t know why. Maybe my body is missing some of the vitamins and minerals that come in a banana. Like today, I bought a bunch of 3 ripe, medium sized bananas and couldn’t even wait to get home to bite into one. Tomorrow I will cut up one and put in on top of my Rice Krispies. I don’t have immediate plans for the last one yet. Any ideas?

With the bad economy, we hardly ever eat out at restaurants anymore. We just can’t afford it like we used to.

The up side is that I am becoming a pretty good cook. At least I think so. And no one has refused to eat the dinners.

Broken Mirror

Last night I was in the living room watching TV and I heard a loud crash from the bathroom. As there was no one in the house but me, it definitely freaked me out to hear a loud noise from the other room. I mean, images of horror movies and all.

Turns out that the mirror over the bathroom sink fell. On its own. For no reason.

It took me almost half an hour to clean up all that broken glass. I hate the idea of getting a sliver of glass in your foot. So I cleaned and then cleaned again and cleaned a third time. And each time I found more slivers of glass. Unbelievable how much glass can be generated from one mirror falling off the wall.

It’s my sister’s birthday. I was not even two years old when she was born, so I don’t remember that day. But I try to remember to send her a card and call her to chat on her birthday every year since leaving home.

Extra Day for R and R

This weekend is a nice long one. I wish there were more 3 day weekends. How about we have at least one three day weekend every month of the year? Oh wait – we do. Except for August. Let’s find an excuse for a three day weekend in August. How about Elvis day?

Last Chance for the Beach

Here it is the end of summer and I’ve only been to the beach 3 times. This is a horrible summer for weather. It’s been cold and rainy the entire 3 months. I might as well be living in Seattle!

Missed the Beach

Can you believe it is August already? It seems like the summer has just flown by with no vacation and no beach time yet. That makes me sad. I really miss the beach. Maybe we can still find a hot weather weekend and make that long drive down to the Gulf of Mexico. Even if it’s for just one day.
