My Dear Grandmother

Talking to Felicia on the phone and she mentioned my grandmother. Today would have been my grandmother’s 111th birthday. Of course, no one is 111 years old. But she did live a very long time. She passed away on Christmas Eve when she was 88 years old. I can’t even imagine being 88 years old.

Anyway, Felicia knows it was my grandmother’s birthday because oddly enough HER grandmother has the same birthday. Except her grandmother is turning 81 this year and is still alive and living in her own home. I think it is wonderful that some people never have to worry about living in a nursing home because they have good health and family who love them and take care of them.

My grandmother did not have to live in a nursing home, either. My Auntie took care of care the last two years of her life and I really admire and respect her for doing that. I hope Auntie gets the same love and care when she gets older, too.

Sparkly Vampires?

Everyone is so all happy about those vampire movies in the Twilight series. I think they are a joke. Who ever heard of vampires that are sparkly? Why couldn’t she write the stories like they would be believable with traditional vampire roles? It just doesn’t make sense to me that vampires would be sparkly, so I don’t even want to read those books or watch those movies.

Turkey Wraps Are Tasty!

Today I met with my friend, Claude, and we had a picnic lunch, of sorts. It wasn’t a traditional picnic in the park on a red checkered tablecloth, but it was outside and it was a park – technically. Well, OK. It was a little piece of grass on the side of the street that had a bench were we could sit.

He brought turkey wraps that he bought at the grocery store and I brought potato salad and two cold drinks. The potato salad was from scratch, because I had made some extra potatoes a couple of days ago. So I chopped up the leftover potatoes, added some mayonnaise and a little squeeze of mustard. Then I tossed in a small handful of chopped onions, green peppers and celery.

My mom used to chop up pickles and put them in her potato salad, but some people don’t like pickles and I didn’t know what Claude likes or doesn’t like. So, I played it safe and left them out. Turns out that the does like pickles, though. So next time I’ll add the pickles.

So, with that said, I have to admit that I’ve never eaten a turkey wrap before. It just never occurs to me to buy that when I’m in the grocery store. But I’m glad he brought them and let me try them, because I do like them and they seem to be pretty easy to make.

Mob Wives

Vh1 has really gotten me hooked on their hit series “Mob Wives” I am so happy that they decided to bring it back again, I just wish that I could watch it more often. Thank goodness for reruns, but still it isn’t the same as seeing it from beginning to end. Today’s episode was all about the newspaper headlines announcing that Renee’s of “Mob Wives” hubby is a Rat!

Easter Egg Hunts For Adults

One of the things that I really miss about being a kid during the Easter Holiday is the Easter Egg Hunts that we always participated in at various locations all throughout the years. I’m thinking that someone needs to put together a Easter Egg Hunt for adults, with eggs stuffed with money and coupons and other items that people would love to have as well as some of the traditional candies.

This Year’s Gardens

I have almost got my garden ready for planting. It is a lot of work, but I enjoy it especially when the weather is as delightful as it has been around here for the last few weeks. I’ve been raking, weeding and tilling as well as adding more rocks around the border of it. I love how it looks with all of the rocks all around it as a natural border option. I’m just having a difficult time trying to decide what I really want to plant this year. Last year all the deer really did some damage on a lot of my plantings and I got really discouraged, but this year I am putting up a wire fence around it and hopefully that will help the situation with not only the dear but all of the other critters that enjoy munching away each year in my gardens.

Stick A Fork In Me

Last night I couldn’t get my new cell phone to do anything. It just kept coming up as Emergency Phone Calls Only, but no matter what button I pushed I couldn’t get it to make a call or a text, emergency or not. I had to take the darn thing into the AT&T store this afternoon and have them take a look at it. Can you believe that all he did was take the battery out and the SIMS card out as well and blow it the back of the phone and then put it all back together again. Presto Magic!

Stupid Cell Phone

I just keep getting more and more frustrated with my new cell phone. I’ve read the instructions over and over and I’m bout ready to throw the darned thing out the window. I may have to stop by the AT&T store where I bought the darn thing at and ask them to help me with a few things that I just can’t find and some things that I can’t get rid of.

New Cell Phone

Well I finally said goodbye to Verizon and got myself on my sister’s family plan with AT&T. I am going to save so much money each month by switching over and I got a new phone to boot. So far so good but I am having issues with figuring out this new phone. It is totally different from my old one. I’ve been letting people know that I have a new phone and if they are trying to reach me and are not getting me to be patient. A few more weeks and I’ll be fine, I hope.
