I have fallen in love with Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry. There are several other poets that I like, but something about the way Edgar Allen Poe writes seems to touch my very soul. It would have been amazing to know this man while he lived. I hope to write like that some day, with my own thoughts, of course.
Too Hot to Sleep

This hot weather is not a big deal if you have the luxury of staying indoors and enjoying air conditioned comfort. The most you have to worry about is the car being hot when you first get in it. Sometimes the seats in the car are so hot that your legs sweat and stick to the seats. Then when you get out of the car there are these huge red marks on the back of your legs. That is so embarrassing!
Sometimes we like to sleep outside and pretend to be camping. Before we had to move, we had a big trampoline in the back yard and we would sleep on that. It was nice to be up off the ground and able to see the stars and the night sky. It was a different way to sleep and appreciate being outdoors. But it is so hot this summer that I don’t think I would like sleeping outside. It was still over 90 degrees last night at midnight. That is just too hot to sleep!
Summer Vacation

This summer is half way over already and I’ve not had a summer vacation yet. I still sit around doing the same old, same old. I wish I could go to the beach for a whole week, like we used to do when I was kid. It takes a week away from everything to clear your head and forget all your problems with the real word. Then, when you come back home, those problems seem to be a lots less important and a lot easier to deal with.

I love the way America celebrates her birthday with fireworks. I wish that would become an America tradition for everyone to celebrate their birthday. But so many places have outlawed fireworks, that would never work. At least there are still some places where you celebrate birthdays with fireworks, even if it is only America’s birthday.
